Vacation Morning Nap

For someone who’s on vacation, I am still getting up way too early. Not that it’s really early because the sun has been up for hours. Since I don’t have to be anywhere anytime soon I wouldn’t be up except, well you know how it is, bladder, dogs, etc.

Now I’m up with my coffee and listening to the birds. There are so many more here and that does not even include the rooster which I don’t think I’ve heard yet this morning. Something has some of the neighboring dogs going wild but none of the nearby ones are noisy, at least not the ones who live here so it’s not an imminent threat.

I was skimming through social media and saw so many of my friends celebrating the Nuggets and their first-ever NBA championship. It felt weird watching it on Hulu and then not hearing all the fireworks. It was an amazing game, and I am super envious of my friends who were in the arena last night and of the ones who’ll be at the parade. Not that I would have attended even if I had been in town. That is too much peopling for me.

I really don’t like large crowds. I still haven’t decided if am going to the Pride Parade at the end of the month. Not only am I worried about possible violence, but the sheer number of happy shiny people (not to be confused with Shiny Happy People) that will be there is intimidating AF.

I have never been, though, and feel as if I should. However, I have learned not to fall for that nasty old should anymore. It’s not tricking me into doing anything I don’t want to simply because I feel obligated to do it. Of course, this may be the last time I am in the same space as an event of this size and scope. It may be my last opportunity. We’ll have to wait and see.

The rooster finally made his presence known. It’s a very considerate rooster to wait until after 8 am, or maybe he’s just lazy. I don’t mean to malign his character, as it is possible this was actually round two and I slept through the early morning crowing.

I think maybe I’ve been up long enough. It’s time for that vacation morning nap.

Have a great day y’all.
